New Feature: Resizable Areas

The Discussion box and the Private Messages box are now resizable!

Until now, it was possible to make them wider by making the sidebar wider, but now, they can be resized vertically, as well. And if you have the latest version installed, they will remain in the custom size until you close it.

To resize an area, drag on the bottom of the border.

Recommended Update

A new update is available for the Firefox add-on. You can click here to download the new version. If you have the older version installed, it will be replaced with the new one. The following change has been made: The sidebar no longer reloads when websites are switched. Instead, the discussion for the new website gets fetched in the background and updated dynamically.

Besides for reducing bandwidth, it maintains the state of the page. So, for example, if you go back to read old messages and then switch websites, the sidebar won't reload and show you the latest messages, it will stay where it was.

This also paves the way for resizable areas (likely to be the next new feature), that are really only useful if they stay resized even when websites are switched.

Spread the News

Check out our latest promotional video: http://revver.com/video/1351912/dont-surf-alone/

Apparently, you can make money by sharing the video with your friends.

This video is about the security aspect of Oylem :) If someone else has bee bitten by a site before, they can leave a warning on the site for future visitors using Oylem :) So chances are that you'll be warned when a site is bad, and you'll know to be careful.

Enjoy.

Website Down?

Suppose you arrive at your favorite website, and it's down. You can bang your head against the error messages with no way of knowing what's going on, and the people in charge of the site have no way of telling you, because their website is down, duh.

But that all changes with Oylem :) Even if the site you are trying to visit isn't working, Oylem :) for that site would still work. So all the people who are trying to view that website will be able to communicate between each other, and discuss what's going on. And the people in charge of the site would also have a way of getting in contact with everyone who is there (with Oylem :) on) and explain what is happening.

This is just another way that Oylem :) comes in handy.
